Why do we hate Snitches?

Well, why do we hate tattle-tales?
It would seem as if they perform a function that benefits all of society. The informer. The stool pigeon. The rat fink. None of these conjure tales of heroism, community service, or courage. Why is that? I feel no differently than most when confronted with these people. Why do I want to punish the kid who comes and tells me that his friend (?) is bypassing our computer reservation system to his advantage? Why do I, deep inside, say "good for him, he beat the system!"
Why, in movies, do we cheer for the bank robber, and loath the coconspirator who prevents the money from falling into the wrong hands?
Libraries, or at least public one's, are rife with such stoolies. Having to deal with them every day, I think I've formulated and answer. Personally, I hate these little snitches because their motivation derives completely from a selfish sense of injustice. They don't tell on someone because they are doing something wrong. They tell on someone because they don't want them to get away with something they got caught for! If they can't do it, no one can. This is the motivation of the tattle tale.
There is also the motivation of reward. They think if they inform then they will be rewarded. Often this is the case. I'm not sure how I feel about these people. I think I can understand this a little better. This, however, is not the motivating factor behind the library tattler. The problem with these tattlers is that the temptation, once a level of trust is established, can lead directly to unfounded accusations.
If I were to waive fines for those who told me of rule infractions, I know that it would take no time at all for lies to be told for personal gain.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the underlying feeling in society when it comes to informers. Either they are selfish crybabies who don't want anyone to have fun if they can't, or they are lying cheats who will make you look bad for a buck.
Now that I've pegged down my view of the problem... anyone got a solution?

a girl in my school told some girl i liked her cuz i was talkin about her licking a lollipop (no, a real lollipop) to my friend and it turned me on. Of course the girl proboably has the nepolitan factor (small people that act tough) so of course she told the girl that i liked her. i should frekin strangle her cuz one of my friends is her boyfriend. that is why i hate sniches. oh, and i almost got expelled because i beat some soviet up for callin mme a yank (even though he wears USA shirts...), dumb kid. that just adds to my point. and all the girls in my school named gabrielle are small whores... the one that i dont like at all has a last name of a alchohol beverage... i don't know if i can post this, but it is bailey... freakin midget

Snitches do it for various reasons. One reason can be a simple grudge held from last century. Or even a willing accomplice of the grudge holder! Snitches can be that way for frivilous reasons.

I had a snitch that used to be my friend, but I got into bad blood with another friend. The snitch came to me and asked me what was wrong and I told him and thought he could be trusted. Dead wrong. Later on, the snitch falsely accused me of saying other bad things about my friend. Me and my friend eventually made peace and talk on a seldom basis. I ignored my snitch of a friend for two years before I decided to bury the hatchet. It turned out that he was and still a crybaby. He still thought he did the right thing and blamed me for everything. I then found out that he liked my friend, so that is why he did what he did. I manned up and he is nothing more than a 9 year old trapped in a 28 yr old's body. Some people will never grow up. I thank God I am free from this because I tried to make peace but he seriously needs to get into a WAAAbulance. Not my problem anymore.

i have had my best friend snitch on me. we both came up with this idea because this girl she sits in my seat to try to make me mad so i had someone sit in her seat to make her mad. It wasnt it backfired on me. The person i had sit in her seat snitched on me to this guy the guy who snitched on me also he helped me come up with this idea and when she confronted him about it. He told her its my fault. That I came up with the whole thing on my own and that he had nothing to do with it. That guy is now my ex boyfriend.

These people, in my school, cheated on a test and ended up getting a higher grade while everyone else in my grade got lower even though some people spent hours studying for the test. These same people who got a high grade are also in line for National Honor Society. I personally don't care what grade I got but I didn't think it was fair that those who cheated did better than those who worked hard. So I told the teacher about after being told by another girl what she saw, who by the way also gave me permission to tell the teacher and give the teacher her name if she asked. Before I even went ahead and told the teacher people had already begun to badmouth me.
As young children we are taught by adults to tell the truth but why is it that people listen to the teachings of their peers, that being a snitch is wrong, rather than listen to their parents?
